And that's why I'm never organizing a conference again.

Eighteen months of planning went up in smoke when administrators called the cops on students, locked down the campus, and made the conference attendees who did come feel very unwelcome in numerous ways from racially profiling them, searching their bags, making the whole campus unnavigable because of fences and gate closures, etc.
