An adder stone (or hag stone) is a stone, usually glassy, with a naturally occurring hole in it. It was believed in Celtic Britain that the stones were the hardened saliva produced by a large mass of serpents. In certain Welsh legends, adder stones can turn people invisible or allow them to see invisible creatures.
